Your job is not to make life difficult for President Obama. Your job is not to dole out subsidies, tax breaks, and legislative favors for the industries who pay for your campaigns. Your job is not to robosign any bill that crosses your desk simply because it's printed on ALEC letterhead. Your job is not to make sure Boehner and Cantor's porridge is the right temperature. Your job is not to destroy the middle class by slashing vital programs for the vulnerable just to pay for giveaways to supply-side cranks and multinational corporations.

YOUR JOB, MR. TERRY, is to help your colleagues make laws that benefit, protect, and enrich the lives of the living, breathing people who VOTED you into office.

The Washington culture is corrupt, as the GOP is fond of lamenting, but until you throw down your idiotic political games, your obstructionism, and your brinksmanship that borders on fiscal terrorism, you are part of the problem. "Compromise" is not failure. It is how we advance.
