With 787 military bases around the world and a dwindling US middle class, the choice could not be more apparent as to where the money exists. This country became great because we had a middle class that could afford a comfortable standard of living. Eisenhower's warning of the MIC(military industrial complex) has come true. As a % of GDP, the US spends close to 70% on a military budget. Is policing the world, at the risk of middle class collapse, worth it? All of the countries that have relied on the Great North American consumer engine for the last 75 years will have to look for another middle class in another country to find prosperity. Our elected officials continually make this choice of military prowess over middle class infrastructure. Why?
