»I believe Ken R1's comment "Sadly, a nuclear weapon has to go off in Israel to convince you." shows that he doesn't believe in Due Process either. You know that in America we are innocent until proven guilty. Yes, even if Iran has a functioning Nuke, we cannot employ force until they show full intent to launch. Conditional intent (Bomb Israel if they....) will not float in international arenas as an excuse to bomb Iran first. Some people would like to be as ruthless as our enemy but then we lose our higher position and become no better than the enemy.
»I don't believe a full-on Cuban style embargo is what we want. We are not the controllers of international waters and so we cannot just start blocking trade routes. That is something that would require the support of most nations and definitely the U.N.
On top of that, most people complain about the amount of manpower employed by the military overseas already. How much more would it take to patrol the world’s oceans and seas to ensure our "enemy" isn't shipping oil or whatever new commodity we decide to restrict next.
»As a retired USAF Lt Col, 1981, initially trained as a Navigator and attending numerous Professional Military Training courses it was my understanding that War is the last resort after the civilian authorities have tried all means to resolve the issue peacefully. I still hold that same principle today. Congressman Lee Terry is the best District 2 candidate in the field to accomplish that principle and continue his known and validated Conservative values that he has been pursuing since his first election.
»Was the commercial molten salt nuclear reactor that operated in Nebraska thorium based? If it was and thorium is so good, why did we shut that reactor down? I believe that nuclear energy is the only viable alternative to carbon based fuels that can make a difference in our need for carbon based fuels. I just don't know if thorium is the panacea you make it out to be.
».A state owned oil company seems like a socialist idea but its not. The oil cartel is devastating our economy and we as americans are entitled to other choices. Besides, a debate on the issue of a state run oil company would likely open up other alternative sources of energy that the oil companies have patented and are suppressing.

    • In your opinion, how should Congress address the issue of rogue websites that sell counterfeit prescription drugs, goods and services, music and movies?

    Billions of dollars are stolen from the U.S. economy each year due to the theft of intellectual property and counterfeit goods through internet piracy. While the Stop Online Piracy Act is not the answer, how to curb internet piracy is an important conversation to have.
